when it's too hot and your dsl fails you

it's so hot these days. the 10-day-or-so cool weather we had last february is now replaced with scorching heat. and i'm not exaggerating. everyday at around 1 or 2 pm, lucy, naked to her diaper, and i would tramp up the stairs to our bedroom, and earn more money for the electric company. the two electric fans down here in the sala/dining have been working overtime, too. without much help actually. as they blow even warmer air during the hottest part of the day. with the heat, D being away at work again and non-activity (boredom) getting the better of me, i wish i were somewhere cooler.

or at least back in paco.

where nanay and other relatives are just a street away, when if i'm too lazy to get up and cook, they can just send their lunch, dinner, even breakfast right over. where i can make tambay with our next door neighbor either at her house or ours, sharing whatever food we have in the fridge for merienda. where the water is not too warm if i want to take a shower anytime of the day (no thanks if it's december or january, though). and where taxis are available 24/7 anywhere you want to go!

yes. taxis.

we moved here, i think, a month and a half ago. and although i'm not really new in this 'city' (we've lived here since D and me got married, shuttling between here and paco, before eventually finding a place there, and hey, back here again. whew.), i haven't really paid attention to the scarcity of taxis in this 'city'. i guess you have to have a car, or a bike with a sidecar, at least, if you want to do your weekly grocery. can you imagine 10 grocery bags plus pasalubong, beside you in a bus? how on earth...forget it.

last friday, my niece and i went to sm southmall to pick up lucy's bday cake. as goldilocks charge 30% delivery for cakes, i though i'd rather pick it up and take the bus or jeep and tryke. or at least pray that there is a taxi to take us back home. indeed, there was a queue of cabs by the side door of the mall. the security guard writing pa the plate numbers, etc and giving the piece of paper to the passengers. but don't let this deceive you. the taxis are not taxis but rental cars. for as soon as you put your foot inside, the cabbie asks you where you wan to go, then gives you a flat rate fare. talk about 100% double if you're using the meter. but what meter?! so, lest i risk my daughter's first bday cake getting smashed (exagg!) by taking the bus and tryke, what other choice do i have?

and they call las pinas a city. tsk.

and yeah, i wrote about this same stuff yesterday but the dsl went ewan, erasing all that i've written. or did the heat affect the laptop?

hay. i wish i'd fit in lucy's pool.

happy birthday, lucy!

lucy turned one last friday! and honestly, just waiting for the clock to strike 12mn the night before was for me like getting married all over again. the excitement, the nerves, the happiness i couldn't quite contain. and although D was not here (physically) to celebrate this milestone with me, the phone was frequently off the hook with his calls from the sea.

i am so happy. so is D. we are so blessed, we are thankful.

lemme share with you this collage. i still can't quite believe it's already been a year. and i can't wipe the smile off my face either. =)

lipat bahay

will be moving to a new home. to another house that's not ours (yet). due to the move, me will be busy packing our things, thinking, wondering, daydreaming, talking to myself, about how things will be at our new home. one which fafaden and me would like to live in longer if not permanently.

will have to work on the phone and internet service transfer so no blogging for me for a while. been sometime since i last posted something here anyways.

meantime, enjoy lucy's pics on your visits.

though the pics and lucy are getting older by the minute.

will be back shortly.
